Which ingredients make the ambition of the world's largest urban gardening project a real experiment?
In several interdisciplinary workshops, a basic framework for the new urban district In der Wiesen Ost is developed, which makes urban gardening the leitmotif of open space, but also of development: Balconies, terraces and façade greening elevate the theme of gardening and make it an identity-forming element.
Urban gardening offers a substantial answer to the key question “How does the city grow?”: condensing means developing buildings in dialogue with the development of open spaces and urban activities. Urban Gardening is characterized by a high networking potential with existing facilities. The latter can bring in know-how and skills in knowledge transfer, construction, maintenance and preservation of open space. In this way urban gardening strengthens existing structures of the closer and wider surrounding area.
