Is it unacceptable to feel as if setting sail was imminent in your home every day anew?
The home for an Internet programmer was to offer a spacious working and living space with maximum panoramic views. The location immediately on the bank of the Danube was the starting point for the architectural design: the shape of the house develops from the tension between the river panorama and the risk of flooding.
The two opposite poles, high water and the view of the Danube, were crucial. The project provides for an elevation of the living functions by one storey upwards. As a result, the basement with the ancillary rooms is moved to the ground floor, which is at risk of flooding, and the living space to the safe upper floor. Complicated and costly measures for the construction of a real basement can be omitted. The residential level floats three metres above street level, from where a free view of the Danube and the riparian forest opens up.
