Four slender discs instead of one thick dot, as well as four precision landings with a paper-thin roof instead of a stately base: wouldn’t a more pleasant breeze be blowing along the lake promenade of Urban Lakeside Aspern?
For the construction site directly at the lake of Urban Lakeside Aspern, a layout has to be worked out within the framework of an invited competition. Here, a “medium height high-rise building”—45 metres—is to accommodate 160 privately financed apartments in the medium price segment.
The formula of becoming a high-rise building: x 4! The ratio of the specified GFA to the maximum building height implies a compact volume that lacks the appearance of a high-rise building. By quadrupling the individual volume, four individual buildings are created whose proportions correspond to the mythical elegance of the high-rise building—such as the Lake Shore Drive Apartments by Mies van der Rohe—and bring a sophisticated silhouette to the lakeside as a high-rise cluster. The cluster of 4 slim high-rise buildings becomes the protagonist of the Lake Shore Walk of Urban Lakeside Aspern.
